Feedback Chain Spread Change

So this change was made for Base, without any consideration for LCTF balance. I remember last summer the chain change came in because people were actually getting good with chain and what you'd have is 2+ people chaining cappers out across the map when crashing. This I felt ended up being detrimental to the flow of the game with the slight downside of chasers being less relevant. I think pretty much all the regular players who've been playing for a long time thought the chain spread change was good. Actually being able to sit down and play some LCTF pugs today I can say I think this reversion back to reduced chain spread is a poor decision.

Anyhow, my main point is that the game is now apparently being balanced for Base over LCTF, which was never the case before. I know the devs don't want to have separate weapon values for the differing game modes, but if there is an issue with chasing in Base, I think the devs need to add a weapon to fill that niche (Skybolt from Legions is a perfect example), instead of changing a staple weapon that is in a solid place.

I was surprised to see a buff for chaingun... if anything I was expecting the opposite.
In most AUS games people tend not to use it except as a finisher or against someone rabbiting because it really sucks the enjoyment out of the game if people are primarily using chain... if it keeps this buff I can imagine it will be HEAVILY used in comp matches.

Cg to easy right now. Its used as a crutch. Put spread back to what it was. No need for more weapons and augments, too many already.
Cg is not supposed to be a chasing weapon, use grenades and rings........ it' a finishing tool.

I can actually chain people out for the first time ever in my 15 year + fps-z career. I personally like that change as I like chasing but from a cappers perspective its aids. Chasers can K out disc to chase and still chain them out before they get home, so it's fairly OP atm and should be reverted back.

Why was this change made? Was expecting nerf with overheat mechanic. Chaingun is more of a problem in Base as you have twice as many or more people all focus firing you when you get in range of the enemy base. Is it because cappers are too fast to kill with grenade launcher and disk on the bigger maps? Should address the disease not the symptom. Bring people closer together not further away. Shorter range weapons reward aggressiveness not cowardice. Shooting at pixels is not fun.

i agree with ringo because chase is what i like to do the most right now, but ya unless you get out really fast with full health, you will get chained out before you get home. i have mixed feelings about it because on one hand it promotes more coordination with your offense, since it's harder to get home by yourself. but on the other hand, escorting is pretty infuriating.

Way to OP imo, needed a nerf not a boost.

Improve initial jet boost, reduce overall energy pool

    Chasing fixed , nerf chain

    Problem solved

Only been saying it for close to 2 years

    More thoughts:

Decreased chain spread often has meant the difference between me hitting a clutch shot or not. Hunting is also much improved for very minimal amount of skill.

A step in the wrong direction. Hope someone fix that before release.

Yeah +1 chain is a bit too easy mode now and people that are any good with it are a real headache to deal with generally. It was better before with the wider spread.

No official response on this is worrying. If it isn't going to be reverted for X reason just say it.

Got an answer at last from the man himself:
So unfortunately if your playstyle isn't to whack out chain for every situation you'll have to wait a few months at minimum.

...Or learn how to hit people with an explosive weapon. If your target is 300m away, you're not going to hit them with your ring launcher unless they are an idiot and thus deserve to get hit by it, so of course using the chaingun is the only viable option for consistent damage. If they are any closer than that then a 5% buff to the accuracy of the actual gun isn't going to make a damned difference to the outcome. The TTK on the chaingun hasn't changed at all, it has just (apparently) increased the range at which the chaingun is viable, but it's a two-way street; both parties have access to the chaingun, if one hits more then why should they not be rewarded?

A lot of people could hit enough chaingun pre-buff that you'd feel forced into using the chaingun, even if you only pulled it out to make sure you gonna go even on the trade. I feel your quip about using it in every situation is a moot one, as people have successfully used the chaingun in every situation before the change and been terribly effective. If you're complaining about people like that being even more effective, then asking for the buff to be reverted is pointless, as people who only chaingunned were already too effective in my opinion. Waiting until something that will actually change the chaingun significantly is the right course of action I think.

PLS NOTE: I can't remember what the chaingun felt like from before the 5% accuracy buff, so I honestly couldn't tell you if it feels any different to how it was 3 months ago.
